Annual Dinner Auction Scheduled for Hale Kau Kau | News, Sports, Jobs

Hale Kau Kau will be holding its 20th annual dinner and auction on February 9 at the Wailea Beach Resort-Marriott Maui, the association said on Wednesday.

The fundraising dinner generates about 40 percent of Hale Kau Kau’s annual budget. The event will include a buffet dinner, live and silent auctions and performances. The reception and silent auction will begin at 4:30 p.m., followed by dinner and a live auction at 6 p.m. This year’s theme is “Share the love.”

Hale Kau Kau serves and delivers hot meals daily in the kitchen of St. Therese Church. The program celebrated its 10,000th consecutive day of service on Wednesday. Since its inception on August 11, 1991, Hale Kau Kau has provided over 1.5 million free hot meals to the community. The association employs a chef, but most of the people who help cook, prepare and deliver meals are volunteers.

“For some customers, a Hale Kau Kau dinner is their only meal of the day, and in other cases, the volunteer driver is their only visitor of the day,” said Reverend Monsignor Terrence Watanabe. “The support of the community makes this ministry of food possible. “

Individual seats for the fundraising dinner are $ 150 per person or $ 140 per person if you purchase 10 tickets. Sponsorships are also available.
