COLOMBIAN – The Shelby County Chamber is looking for auction items donated for its fifth annual Boots & Bow Ties fundraiser next month.

Boots & Bow Ties 2019 event will benefit the Chamber’s expanded career preparation programming, including Keeping It Real for ninth graders, Connect 2 Careers for 10e first graders and communication questions for 11e freshmen, as well as the annual student scholarships and teaching stipends that the Chamber awards each April as part of its Student and Teacher of the Year program.

“In addition, we hope to extend our Ready to Work elective course to 12 years olde primary school students – which we launched in four schools this year – to all our schools for the 2020-2021 school year, ”said Pari Barzegari, Community and Professional Development Manager.

Boots & Bow Ties was created by the former South Shelby Chamber of Commerce, which merged with the former Greater Shelby County Chamber of Commerce in January 2019 to form the Shelby County Chamber.

“Due to the positive impact and purpose of Boots & Bow Ties in the community, this was one of the programs that everyone felt needed to be continued when the two organizations came together.” said House President and CEO Kirk Mancer.

Boots & Bow Ties 2019 will take place on Tuesday, December 17 at the new facilities at Old Mill Square in Columbiana from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Tickets cost $ 20 per person and are available to the public.

The deadline to make reservations or contribute auction items is December 13 at 5 p.m.

Individuals can make payments for auction items and tickets to the Greater Shelby County Community Foundation, the House’s non-profit foundation.
