Since the Shelter at Home Order, CASA supervisors and advocates have worked diligently to ensure the safety and well-being of all youth in foster care.

– Court-appointed special advocates (CASA) for San Luis Obispo County had to call off a major fundraiser, Hope for the Future. CASA is counting on this event for a significant part of its budget. They have moved all of their auction items to an online format. The funds raised from this auction are essential to help them continue to serve children under the jurisdiction of the San Luis Obispo County Child Protection Court.

Since the Shelter at Home Order, CASA supervisors and advocates have worked diligently to ensure the safety and well-being of all youth in foster care. There are additional levels of stress and worry that impact the youth foster population. Recently, a CASA volunteer received a phone call from the child assigned to her, who was in distress due to a heated argument with her foster parent. She was both heartbroken and angry about being kicked out of this house. CASA was able to immediately call the foster parent and arbitrate what could have turned into a failed placement and further loss for a child who has already had a tumultuous life. This is just one of the many ways CASA volunteers continue to advocate for and care for their assigned children.

Go to https://slocasa2020.ggo.bid to start bidding and fundraising. The auction ends April 30, 2020. All proceeds will be used to fund CASA’s work on behalf of vulnerable children and youth in the region.
