City auction items stolen in Valleyview Arena burglary

The theft included two bikes, which were among the auction items because they were originally stolen or lost

Some stolen and/or lost bikes that were to be auctioned off by the City of Kamloops have been stolen – again.

The city is holding an online auction Aug. 3-6 to sell surplus assets — including tools, industrial equipment, auto parts, electronics, furniture and more — as well as unused bicycles. claimed detained by the city and the RCMP.

While the auction will be held online, the items are stored in the Valleyview Arena, which proved tempting for a thief or thieves.

Kamloops RCMP Corporal Crystal Evelyn said police received a report of a burglary and robbery at the arena on Monday July 25 around 8 p.m., noting the crime may have taken place a few days earlier.

Evelyn said two bicycles were among the stolen items.

Anyone with information is asked to call Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 and reference case 2022-25766.

Meanwhile, the remaining unstolen auction items will be available to bid online at kamloops.ca/auction between August 3-6. These items can be viewed in person at Valleyview Arena, 353 Highland Rd., beginning at noon. at 8 p.m. on August 4 and 5. A catering truck will be on site both days.
