Former Norfolk Shipyard auctioned St Olaves online
A former shipyard, described as having “enormous potential”, is expected to be auctioned off later this month.
The former Alphacraft shipyard in St Olaves, Norfolk is marketed by Auction House East Anglia.
It is due to be sold at an online auction on Wednesday, October 20 – and comes after the marine property is withdrawn before being put under the hammer at an auction scheduled for July.
People are fortunate enough to own the marine property, which spans 4.25 acres as it is offered for auction.
The old Reeds Lane shipyard in St Olaves is to be sold freehold through an online auction with a indicative price of £ 200,000 to £ 250,000 plus costs.

Located in the village of Norfolk – between Great Yarmouth, Lowestoft and Beccles – the auctioneers’ description of the property indicates that the old shipyard has “substantial frontage on the River Waveney”.
He adds: “Reeds Lane is home to a number of naval related businesses and at the far end is this former shipyard with enormous potential for rejuvenation.
“The property comprises two large, somewhat dilapidated workshop / storage buildings as well as a raised office / administration building although this has never been completed in-house.
“Outside, the site offers several mooring basins although these are now silted up and somewhat overgrown with reeds.
“However, we consider that there is a potential of around 150 m of mooring, perhaps more if we incorporate finger pontoons.
“The site benefits from a relatively recent low wall against floods which follows an irregular course between the river and the buildings.
“We believe this lot offers enormous regeneration potential.”
With the village of St Olaves located approximately eight and nine miles from Great Yarmouth and Beccles respectively, and dissected by the River Waveney, it is described as “providing good access to the southern part of the Norfolk and Suffolk Broads”.
The site also contains “a range of boating accessories, equipment and machinery” and is sold as is.
