Liquid Icons to organize an online fine wine auction
Liquid Icons, founded by the late Gerard Basset OBE MW MS and Lewis Chester DipWSET, will host The Golden Vines Fine Wine, Rare Spirit & Experience global online auction in September.
The Golden Vines Fine Wine, Rare Spirit & Experience global online auction will open on September 23. An impressive number of 71 fine wine estates and distilleries will auction lots to the Gerard Basset Wine Education Charitable Foundation in an effort to help fund diversity and inclusion in wine.
Organized by fine wine research and content production company Liquid Icons, the auction will be available online using a eBrochure with built-in WPA technology to enable global bidding.
The auction will close on the evening of the Golden Vines Awards ceremony and dinner on Thursday, October 7. Each auction lot will include large formats or rare bottles, as well as a “money-can’t-buy” experience among the best wineries and spirits distilleries in the world on five continents.
Proceeds from the auction will be used to fund global programs promoting diversity and inclusion in wine, including the Taylor’s Port Golden Vines Diversity Fellowship. The Gerard Basset Wine Education Charitable Foundation hopes to raise over £ 1million from the auction.
Lewis Chester DipWSET of Liquid Icons and Trustee of the Foundation said: “We are honored and touched by the tremendous enthusiasm and generosity of so many great wineries and spirits distilleries in supporting the work of the foundation. The industry clearly recognizes the issues of diversity and inclusion and the need to address them radically through the foundation’s global wine education programs.
Lovers of good wines will be delighted by the special experiences on offer: Liber Pater offers on its release a Melchior (18 liters) of the most expensive red wine in the world, accompanied by a visit, a tasting and a lunch with the incomparable Loïc Pasquet; Cheval Blanc opens its doors to a group of 10 people to stay at the Château while enjoying a good dinner with its head winemaker, Pierro Clouet, accompanied by a 2006 Cheval Blanc jeroboam; The Catena family will welcome a successful bidder to Mendoza, Argentina for a three-night trip.
