The Oceanside Benchmark online auction had bidders sitting on the edge of the seat.

“It was a highlight,” according to organizers, Parksville District Chambers of Commerce and Qualicum Beach. “Until the very end, with just a few seconds on the clock, we had two bidders who clashed.”

The auction, which ended on September 18, raised $ 18,570, which will be used to help participating artists and coordinating non-profit organizations.

The benches have been on public display in different areas, from Nanoose Bay to Lighthouse Country. Emma Henry’s bench “A Sea of Color” received the highest bid of $ 2,050, followed by “Going to Nanoose Bay” by David and Lorraine Shaw which sold for $ 1,925 and $ 1,700 for “Ravens Moon” by Gina Adams.
