Online Auction Items Now Available For The 11th Annual Nest Gala On Friday

FORT MYERS, Florida. – Ahead of this Friday’s 11th annual Night at the Nest Gala – the premier event for FGCU athletics – online and mobile auctions for hundreds of exclusive auction items are now available.

The event is designed to show appreciation to Eagles donors, while also raising external resources for the department that help improve the student-athlete experience. The Night at the Nest of the Year is sold out for the fifth consecutive year.

Last year’s Night in the Nest has been canceled and replaced with the Sustaining Flight fundraiser and virtual auction due to the COVID-19 pandemic. $ 446,000 in net income was generated by the initiative which was a tremendous result and directly attributable to our fantastic support from Southwest Florida.

The full-fledged, gala-style auction will return this Friday. The 2019 event raised a historic amount of $ 676,000 which exceeded the 2018 total of $ 601,000. Since 2015, Nuit au nid has generated over half a million dollars each year for FGCU Student-Athlete Scholarships. Due mainly to the generosity of businesses and individuals in Southwest Florida, a total of $ 4.47 million has been raised since the events began in 2010.

The main component of the event includes an exclusive assortment of auction items, including 20 premier live auction items (previews available on the website) and over 250 silent items, which are now open and available. to bid remotely. The resort’s casual event includes a cocktail and dinner as well as live and silent auction items, with doors opening at 6 p.m. FGCU coaches and staff will be in attendance, and student-athletes will serve as dinner servers. One hundred percent of net income is used to raise and establish scholarships for current and future FGCU student-athletes.

Night at the Nest has grown from 300 attendees each year when it first screened in 2010 to 680 in 2013 and has reached its capacity of 800 people each year since the 2016 event.

Dr. Robert Ryan Jr., of Bonita Bay, who is the AD’s assistant for special events, is once again the president of Night at the Nest. The Eagles Club Advisory Board, the official organization of FGCU Athletics’ recall club, in addition to FGCU administrators, athletic programs, coaches and student-athletes, plays a vital role in organizing and promoting of the evening.

Additionally, Lois Thome – one of Southwest Florida’s best-known media figures as the co-host of the WINK News shows at 5 p.m., 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. – will serve as emcee, with longtime local celebrity Jay Severson being the auctioneer.
