Prince, Beatles and Oasis lyrics auction will be for sale

Other memorabilia from famous celebrities are up for grabs at an auction. Julien’s Auctions has announced that one of the legendary Prince’s guitars and some Beatles song lyrics written by Paul McCartney will be included in a major musical artifact sale.

The auction house said Monday, May 4, that the Music Icon Auction 2020 the sale will take place on June 19 and 20 in Beverly Hills and the live online auction as well. Other items up for auction include a black coat by Johnny Cash, handwritten lyrics by the band Oasis, a diary by Jim Morrison from the rock band Doors, and more.

Prince’s bespoke guitar for sale is a 1984 blue “cloud” guitar that the pop singer-songwriter played in his early years after the success of “Purple Rain”.

Julien’s Auctions estimates that the memorable guitar will cost between $ 100,000 and $ 200,000 and calls it “one of the most important guitars of the early years of Prince’s career” to be auctioned. From the Beatles Collection, the subject of the auction is a lyric sheet handwritten by Fab Four member Paul McCartney. The composition page shows previous 20 line erasures, revisions and drafts for “Maxwell’s Silver Hammer”, a track from the British band’s album with the iconic “Abbey Road” walk released in 1969. The stationery used was an “Apple Corps Limited, 3 rang Saville.” The item is estimated to be worth between $ 200,000 and $ 300,000.

A rare Paris Journal belonging to Doors leader Jim Morrison will also be in the running. The journal is full of poems he wrote before his death in 1971. Here are other items from the Music Icons 2020 auction: a black Johnny Cash duster he wore on the cover of the 1994 US recordings, Elvis Presley’s belt buckles and jewelry, a pair of moccasins from Michael Jackson and several handwritten lyrics from songwriter Oasis and guitarist Noel Gallagher. Several memorabilia from the Rolling Stones, Whitney Houston, Madonna, Queen and David Bowie will also be sold.
